{Everyday Life}

In order to not lose momentum of blogging and documenting, here I go with an everyday post. This is just a few pictures recently of our everyday life :).

The boys new dresser came in! They are still really enjoying sharing a room and it has worked out so well. I am just so thankful. They play and sleep well in there together, so I hoping that continues. I still have a few things to do to the room (pictures on the wall, new lamps, toy chests for each of them), but overall it is coming together piece by piece. And of course most of their toys are in the baby's room -- I have no idea what we are going to do with everything once the baby arrives! It has turned into the boys' playroom somehow and they (and I) will sure miss it.

This is a picture of me around 22 or 23 weeks I think (I am 24 weeks today!). I am not quite sure how I am going to make it for four more months. My stomach is big and heavy and tight...especially at night. Just in the last week, I am very anxious about getting this little one here. I don't know if it is because I just love "birth" day and all that it entails or if I am finally getting really ready to find out what this one is -- a bouncy, new boy or a sweet (probably still very large) baby girl. Please excuse the bra hanging on the door....I am just impressed that it is on the door and not on the floor. Ha!

The boys have two modes --- either the bestest of friends or the worst enemies. Luckily, they are happy and loving more than the other and I like to document those moments :). Ben usually is the one to instigate the problems. I hear a lot of "I'm leaving!" and "You aren't my best friend anymore!" or "I'm mad at you!" with a lot of huffs and puffs and then playtime goes pretty quickly downhill. But then usually within 20 minutes, they are laughing and playing together again. I think once Ben gets out of the 'terrible' threes, these hard moments will be few and far between.

We had our last Christmas celebration with Chat's dad's family the week after Christmas. The boys had their red shirts on and were super smiley, so I had to get a picture! And apparently I wanted to be in the picture too...

Luke is LOVING board games! Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, Zingo. You name it! The boy loves it and luckily his Daddy does too. When Chat is at home, there is always a game going on. Ben is very interested too, but has trouble with the rules and waiting his turn, etc. But we are working on it and he is getting better.

Saturday morning Luke wanted to help me grocery shop. So he got his hat and we were off! He was so helpful. He would want to put everything in the cart for me. What a cute dude!

The boys got more Magnatiles for Christmas and have been busy building and playing with them! Luke is super into spelling and letters, so he of course figured out how to make his name out of some. He was super proud of himself!

Here is a picture of Luke and some of his best buddies from school. He was invited to go to a pottery painting party of one of them and they did great for about 20 minutes. Once the painting was done (which was pretty quickly), they were like bulls in a china cabinet! We ended up bringing them outside and they ran up and down the sidewalk right outside the store. Ha! Meanwhile all the little girls were still painting for the next 45 minutes.

These three are super cute and a lot of TROUBLE!

After school on Mondays Luke has swim, but we have about 45 minutes to kill before it starts. So we typically head to the park that is right by their school for a bit if the weather is nice. Lately the boys are starting to wrestle and play keep away and other things where one is usually upset, hurt or left out. So this past Monday, I pretended to be the 'coach' and started telling them to do certain things (run around that tree, do five jumping jacks, etc). Boy was it a hit! They loved it and everyone was happy! This was a picture my friend Christine took and sent out --- that why it is labeled Coach Bethany. But I like the ring to that!

I got silly with Ben one night in the bathtub and gave him a pony tail. He likes it for about five seconds and the proceeded to dislike it intensely and cried for me to take it out. His hair has been super long and weird with the dry, cold weather we are having. When it is humid, his hair is in tight curls and so cute. But when it is dry, it is kinda wavy and really long and just a mess.

Trains, trains and trains! We still have tons and the boys still play with them every single day. This past week, they decided to organize them in the hallway. I told Chat that we have hundreds to thousands of dollars sitting in our hallway at the moment and texted him these pics!

With the baby coming this spring and Chat's car not going to pass inspection in February, we knew it was time to get a new car. The MDX was such a fabulous car -- I actually got it in 2003 when I graduated college. So it was 11 years old with almost 150,000 miles on it. In all those years, we barely had to put any money into it. But it was started to show its wear and tear. So we said goodbye...

And said hello to this baby! We ended up getting a Suburban and it is absolutely ginormous. Chat is now driving our newer MDX and I am driving this bus. We have had it a little less than 2 weeks and I am already getting use to the size so I think we are okay. But good gracious it is big! It barely fits in our garage. The boys love it though! Talk about feeling good about a purchase -- the boys just talk and talk about how they like it and thanking us all the time for it. It is hysterical!

We have had some cold weather in Houston this week -- down in the 20's at night and in the 30's and 40's during the day. I know that is nothing for some, but that is cold for us! I have to fight Ben everyday to wear pants and long sleeves. Oh and a jacket. He would be out in shorts and a Thomas shirt every day if I let him. Luckily the sun poked out yesterday so they willingly put on some jackets and mittens and went out to play. It was so nice!

That's it for now! We are birthday party season now and have at least one party if not two every weekend, so that is what we have been up to. Until next update...

1. Your bump is the cutest thing ever! Love it! 💗
2. No joke! Y'all have a TON of trains! I thought we had a bunch. I told the boys I'm keeping them for their kids.
3. It's time for us to get a new big fam car. I'm scared of the burb-it's so big! But if you can do the city life in it, maybe I need to look at them again! Of course, I'm sure you can see over the steering wheel. Me, not so much!

Hi Leah!! Thanks for the comment on my bump. It is growing! We seriously have hundreds of trains. I keep thinking they will have their fill, but nope, they still want more! As far as the car, I really do love it! But I am like a foot taller than you. I have a friend who has one who is probably your height and says she struggles seeing over the hood. But I do love it. The room is incredible and I just know we can take lots of road trips in it, etc.

Okay I just had to post one more comment about ben not wanting to wear pants. Gray is the same way so I make him walk outside in just his underwear and a t-shirt and tell me if he thinks it is warm enough. I know that sounds so mean, but I promise we usually don't make it past opening the front door and he realizes that it is too cold and asks for his pants. Not sure how Ben would react to that but it might be worth a try.
