{Sick, Zoo, Sick, Trip}

Last week started out with Luke getting a fever virus on Sunday that lasted till about Tuesday....

 Days without school seem long.  Days without school for weeks with kiddos sick, seem to make me (and others) loopy and desperate for anything fun.  Seriously.

Then we got to Wednesday with both kids well and fever-free, so we did a quick trip to the zoo where we proceeded to have some fun in the midst of sweating to death:

But later Wednesday evening, a certain chubby toddler started acting like a toot.  And crying A LOT.  And we finally knew why by Thursday afternoon.  Ben got Luke's virus and he was pretty miserable for three next days.
P.S.  I think I have a puker on my hands when fever strikes.  Hold me.

We had our final family trip to San Antonio planned for Sunday, and luckily by Saturday we knew he was going to be well enough to go.  And thank goodness because boy did we need a change of scenery!!!  We loaded up Sunday around lunchtime and made the 3 hour drive and made it with plenty of sunshine left in the day to play...

What did we ever do without waterslides?!?!  The boys LOVED them once again!

Three days of waterslide heaven...

Which lead to this one passing out for nap time (bedtime was a different story for this stinker!)...

My two happy fish!

This ends the summer trips and I am both happy and sad to say goodbye to them.  Starting Monday, Chat starts school for the next 20 months and we still have 2 more weeks of no school for the boys.  Things are changing, but so happy to have a summer filled with (mostly) good memories.  Now just trying to keep my sanity for two more weeks!

{9 Years, No Bottles, Fire Pole & Stickers}

- Chat sent me a text this morning from work and reminded me that we met nine years ago today.  It was actually Friday, the 13th (although I think that was a sign of good luck!).  Wow...it doesn't even really seem possible that we have been together for almost a decade!

-  We officially quit the bottle with Ben.  Only about 7 months later than we did with Luke.  Ha!  Once I stopped nursing at 13 months, I continued giving Ben a bottle once a day right before bed.  It helped with his transition from being nursed to sleep and it kept him drinking milk as well since he was not really drinking it from a sippy cup.  Well, I guess I got hooked and it was a crutch for me.  We had so many trips this summer, I didn't want to deal with having to put him to bed without it and I enjoyed having that time at the end of the day where we just rocked in the dark and had a few sweet moments, so I just kept doing it.  Enough was enough though, so about 2 weeks ago I just stopped.  And he hasn't missed a beat.  So I think it confirms that I was more attached to it than him!

- My boys love this book!  We read it several times a day...

- Ben pooped on the potty!  It was a total fluke, but I will take it.  Ben always watches Luke going to the bathroom and has had a fascination about it for several months now.  Anytime I change his diaper or clothes, he immediately runs to the bathroom and sits on the small potty.  Well before bath a few nights ago, he was running around naked (his favorite thing to do!) and I could tell he needed to go by a few grunts he decided to make.  So I offered the potty to him and he went!  He got up and looked at his 'deposit' and was so funny.  I think he was shocked and a bit confused at what he produced.  It was too funny!  And then he peed on the floor about 2 minutes later. That sounds more like it.

- We are really enjoying going to church and love having friends go to the same one as us too.  The boys are getting used to the nursery more and more I am also now attending a bible study on Tuesday morning's and really glad I joined it.  Here is a picture of Luke and his buddies after church...

- Luke got a little fever bug this week, but is doing pretty well today.  He had fever a little over 24 hours and then seems to be back to his normal self.  The boys have really been pretty healthy this summer and sickness has not interfered with any camp or travel plans thank goodness!

- In an effort to keep the boys entertained in this darn heat while school is out, we got this cool color train.  The boys have been having a blast!  Although it was a bit of a mess to put together by myself when the boys were itching to get at it.  But I finally got it put together!  Ben actually is the one that loves to color it and Luke enjoys playing inside being the conductor!

- Ben loves stickers.  Like really loves them. He loves to put them on my leg while I type on the computer.  So at any given time, I can look down and find 30 on my thigh.  The other night, the boys were getting into Luke's Thomas sticker book and were being unusually quiet.  Then Ben comes running into the kitchen giggling like crazy with all these on. Sticker attacked by his older brother and he loved every minute of it!

-  Last week the boys and I met some relatively new friends at the Fire Truck Museum in downtown Houston. It was such a cute little place.  There wasn't a ton to do, but it was a fun little outing.  Luke loved playing in the fire truck!  The only hiccup was when Luke jumped a little too hard onto the fire pole and hurt himself in his 'man area'.  He comes running to me in tears saying, "My p*nis hurts".  Oh if he only knew what he was in for...

- Chat starts school in less than two weeks so we are attempting to go on one last quick trip to San Antonio this Sunday for a few days.  We hope that the boys are well enough to go so we can enjoy one last trip as a family before things really change for us and our schedule.  Chat doesn't get any time off for the next 20 months in school except for 2 weeks at Christmas.  So this is our last chance at a getaway!  Here is a picture of Chat and the boys right before he left for his orientation a few weekends ago...

- And I will leave you with this...because Ben is such a little nut!  I can just imagine the boys using this as a sling shot in the years ahead.
